Comparison can and will steal your joy, (1)Staring into the abyss that is social media I find myself wondering why not me? Why was I not invited to the party? What am I lacking to not be included?

As those feelings began to swirl in my mind I knew I needed to stop the madness before it took me down that deep dark path of reminders of how many times I was just on the outside looking in… feeling alone and wondering why!?

It amazes me that after all these years that I still struggle with feeling and being enough. I know the Bible verses and I know His truth yet, here I sit still feeling inadequate and all alone.

The more I run after God and the more I strip myself of things that have bound me up and held me back… the more I have to fight the internal battle of insecurity and doubt. I tend to try to take the battle on my own. Hiding it away from everyone I know. Until I find my inner turmoil begins to steal my joy and rob my family of my heart.

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. Romans 12:1-2 The Message

I think sometimes we get things twisted. We begin to think things will get easier or that we will be fully healed of our iniquities but the truth is we will forever have to battle the war waging inside of us. We will have to continue to fight the good fight to make the right decisions.

And it is not always easy my friend.

Sometimes you will want to run and hide. Sometimes you will want to just leave it all behind. But, have faith and know this journey is not for nothing. These struggles are not worthless. These issues can and will make you stronger, bolder and more courageous in your faith and walk with God.

Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. Keep your guard up. You’re not the only ones plunged into these hard times. It’s the same with Christians all over the world. So keep a firm grip on the faith. The suffering won’t last forever. It won’t be long before this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ—eternal and glorious plans they are!—will have you put together and on your feet for good. He gets the last word; yes, he does. 1 Peter 5:8-11 The Message

When those feelings of inadequacy begin to rise and when you are feeling insecure have faith and know you are NEVER alone. This battle can be won and is best fought alongside fellow believers and  supports in Christ. We CAN win the war waging inside of us the more we bring to light our struggles.

Father God help us to hold onto faith when we begin to feel weak. Guide us to live in Your love and know in our hearts You are enough to fill those insecurities, doubts and fears. Lead us, guide us and make us whole in You. Amen.
